This is a post is made by LDK. He asked me to send this to the forum. You can leave your comments here, he will probably read it. Please be polite and no bashing. New chapters hopefully commin soon! LDK's AW Autobiography: Chapter 1 & 2 Author's notes: Hello, LDK here. Thought I shouldn't leave the game on a bad note, wanted to gift you all with an Autobiography of my AW career. Quite different from your own careers, my career involves interesting situations, difficulties and confrontations. Does take time to write something like this so I would like you all to appreciate this, however I understand you can post in your own right so go ahead and troll me and the opinions I write here. Obviously there is a boundary on how much you can explore the Art of trolling here, so watch yourselves. Thanks for your time! Also many thanks to Hugo for posting this for me! My starting username was Revenge25. Found the game on Youtube and was like "Why the hell not?". Starting the game wasn't the hard part. The tutorial was actually quite easy to go through, contrary to what other people say. A mixture of reading through the tutorial help box and using a wee bit of common sense - clicking on units and moving/dragging them. Once I kicked off playing in the Main room (there wasn't a "beginners" lobby back then) against a mixture of rank and ability, I found out that beating players wasn't the hard part. The only problem was adjusting to the lack of sportsmanship shown by some players (wallfucking and attacking first turn) and allies that betrayed me. I'll be honest too, I didn't know that wallfucking and attacking was frowned up by the community until rank 3 when the high ranks starting spitting out their insults at me. Obviously, from then on I used their wise words to help my game play improve. This helped me improve relationships with a few high ranks (yes i was a real suck up at rank 4) but the key moment was when I met a player called Hugosch. From one level to the next The game I was in was a difficult one from a playing perspective. I was UK, in a 10k game as Mos. 2 rank 5s in Spain and Germany, 2 rank 7s in Eastern Europe, one being Russia Volga (Hugosch) the other in Ukraine. There was also a rank 8 in Turkey. The first few turns went well, I was rank 5 having sufficient upgrades to play competitively I killed Spain. Germany was really offensive so I had problems trying to kill him off. To try and iron out problems with other players, I started to negotiate an alliance with Hugosch and a peace treaty with Turkey. Hugosch welcomed the alliance even though we barely knew each other from the conversations we had in that game he sounded like a top player. A totally sound guy. Turkey rejected my offer so I was determined to prove him wrong. I was no noob. I eventually killed Germany (sure he was fighting on 2 fronts but he had way more allies than I did) which gave me shitloads of income. I gave Hugo a huge share of that, he then went on to superbly kill Ukraine. I then went down into the Balkans, took Italy off Turkey. Turkey offer me an alliance but I was like "Hell no LOL". I took Greece and Hugo took Turkey's cap and killed him off. I admired and respected Hugo. He was probably the only high rank I had met, so far, who: A) Didn't insult me or B) Didn't betray me. In a way, I think Hugo admired my loyalty in an alliance too. The way I kept sending him money and helped him with unit support. He started talking to me after the game, I don't know if he remembers this but he told me that his last few games he had always been betrayed by other players so he was quite wary when he allied me. The next part of the conversation completely shocked me. He'd asked me to join his newly made clan "Bite Me!". I didn't even know clans were in the game back then but he gave me his clan's link and I checked it out. There were two elite players (both being leader), one being the obvious - hugosch - the other was XEvah. I couldn't believe my eyes, an elite player had just asked me to join his clan. Me! A mere rank 5 to join two of the best players in the game. Either I was good enough for them to recognize my potential or this was the biggest wind up in my AW career. To answer his question I said yes. I mean cmon, who wouldn't accept an offer like that? But anyway, he told me he had sent me an invitation and was waiting for me to accept it. I was elated! excited! delighted! Thing is though, I didn't know how to accept an invitation or where this invitation was. Made me LOL thinking back on it now, I didn't want Hugo to think I was a MEGA noob so I pretended I was AFK. Hugo, funnily enough, figured out by my sudden silence that I didn't know where the "invitation" was. His response: "hehe, it's the green "1N" symbol on the top corner of your AW home page screen." Loling hard at how stupid I was, I accepted his invitation. I was now part of the brilliant Bite Me!, soon destined for greater things! Mhmm, really? Next chapter coming soon!
