Server Down - Casual Games

So I logged in to take my turns on my casual games and the servers were down.
Kept retrying and they didn't work, until finally it worked and what do you know?! I've missed my turns

Is there (or can you not put) some mechanism in place to pause games (or extend turn time) when this happens?
I mean it's frustrating when you it happens in quick games, but when it's a casual game you've been playing every day for like 3 weeks and it's a complete stalemate, it kind of takes the **** and is extremely unfair. Oh and another of my games I had the guy's capital and couldn't take my turn to reinforce, so he took it back and all my units died It's like playing through a long RPG and having your save game deleted before you get to the end, and having to start all again (since there's not much point continuing with those games now).

Oh well, there goes a several thousand would-be SP, not to mention a few hours of my life...

Well it didn't happen to other players in those games. I know they obviously took their turns before, but still, my point is with casual games it has a much greater effect.
