Choose your country!

What country would you like to be the land for your nation, if possible to 'teleport'? That mean all your population would settle there, and all their population will resettle to your land, no matter the numbers.

I've been thinking between Britain and Turkey, for my 145 million Russian brothers and sisters:

1. Britain;

+ island-fortres with moat filled water (impossible land invasion)
+ all rich countries are near (good for trade)
+ direct sea route to America (new world, another rich country suitable for trade)
+ north sea have oil

- bad weather
- low on resources
- close to Iceland volcanos
- average size


2. Turkey

+ crossroad between Europe-Asia-Africa
+ warm sea
+ perfect weather and conditions for living and agriculture
+ abundance of resources
+ closeness to european technology and middle eastern craftsmenship

- vulnerable to land invasion
- near war zones and poor countries
- average size



As you can see,I can't decide between 'cold boring northern island' and 'dynamic, hot and loud southern crossroad'. Maybe if i have to decide quickly i would pick Turkey, because atleast something is going on there or will happen, good or bad, a change, progress or anything, while in UK its always the same, flat line, no changes or events to shake up a nation, so you can feel you're alive. (until brexit)

I'd have to go with Britain considering the only drawbacks are more than made up for with the trade opportunity

Probably sweden

I like the cold, has a decent amount of population capacity and its also a pretty good strategic point to get into the baltics, central europe and western europe

Egypt's position is already ideal, so I wouldn't want to change that. I would however want to send all the illiterate/uneducated people -no matter age- and/or the people suffering from poverty to Canada so they get basic education, rights, and opportunities in life. Maybe 1% will come back to help their country, but that 1% is a number surpassing thousands... Canada wouldn't mind the extra influx, their population density is very low and they could use the extra hands. Give them blankets before they go though, Canada is cold!

Canada
Large territory, low population density, decent resources, has its brother-from-another-mother USA below it; so no enemies nearby.
India's already overpopulated. Shifting population to smaller landmass like Britain/Turkey? Omfg no thank you.

No no i chose UK and Turkey, its not an option to pick from only these two. You can choose any country on planet, there are 200 of them.

That mean for example; 1.2 billion Indians will be teleported to Canada and 30 million Canadians will be resettled to India. You won't remove Canadians and settle only 30 million Indians (like number from previous population), but all.

You also can't attach countries like; 'i choose Iraq, but it doesn't have sea so i will attach Kuwait to create my perfect state'. This is not RP.

Norway. Lots of mountains full of minerals, sea access, good position for trade, terrain is not too barren in the south, pretty far from all the Kebabs, Arabs and such and friendly neighbours. Also can pillage Britain if needed. Or just for fun. Propably the latter actually.

Owning abundance of natural resources is a curse, trust me. If not, take a look at Russia and Congo; one is constantly besieged while other is occupied for 200 years.

It makes people work less and become lazy (example again; Russia - between Germany and Japan, two wealthy nations) because why work when you can sell resources.

Better to be like Japan with no resources, that'll force you import-refine-sell, which requires work and skill. Result is hardworking people. And foreigners will ignore you.. probably.
