I honestly believe there's no reason to argue about every single candidate's personality nor achievements... it's obvious that the ones judging them are mods, not us!
Simply stick to suggesting possible candidates as if you were writting down the grocery list!

Prometheus has enough experience in the game and he knows enough about the game and what he does not know he can learn while being a mod.

You don't have to be helpful as precondition to become a mod, just meet the requirements of mature, rational, fair, willing to assist. Though Prometheus helped more than many of the current mods did before they were promoted. So if we go by this stipulation, I can say he fit.

I don't get you people, in the years that I've been a moderator never once has any player suggested another player to me for moderator or even PoTS/PoTM. It's no surprise then when I propose someone for PoTM/PoTS/moderator the player happens to be someone I am familiar with, perhaps from the same clan or ex-clan.

IF anyone is to blame for the lack of diversity among moderators and the current pattern of moderator selection it is the community for not voicing themselves out.

EDIT: I can say I speak for the rest of the moderators on the issue of not receiving suggestions for moderators. If it ever happened it was 2-3 times.

EDIT 2: To add to my earlier point on voicing yourselves out, don't give me the you were silenced by moderators bullshit, we've already told you multiple time if you have a suggestions PM a moderator(better yet all) and the admin. Occasionally bringing it up on forums is not wrong either. The only thing we were against is specific topics about a single player, as this typically turn into flame wars.

I also don't get this whole SM monopoly shit. I mean Desu and BertanK were moderators way before I and Laochra joined, and since then we only promoted 1 player from SM to moderator, Tact, and it took nearly a year. Bonus point as he was not even suggested by a moderator but rather a player.

If you ask me 1 moderator a year is a terrible success rate.

Not once have I ever seen a thread or statement stating that the community is allowed to make recommendations.

Besides, if we tell one mod its up to them to pass it on and bias comes in. That mod could write the suggestion off and no further action will be taken

The pattern will just repeat, The problem is not we don't have enough active mods... Cause quite a few mods are actually still active in terms of playing the game. The problem is the type of people they promote... If we are to get anymore new mods It wouldn't surprise me to see the rest of SM promoted lol.
