Since the switch to HTML5 and even before that, there's been countless of threads criticising anything ranging from graphics and user interface to slowness and bugginess of the new version. So here is your chance to get yourself heard. Remember to be specific and to only post constructive and detailed criticism (with screenshots, when necessary), everything else will be removed. We genuinely appreciate your feedback and it would be fair to say that it is in everyone's interest to make this game better, so let's make it happen!

What is atWar Silverlight (SL)?
atWar Silverlight (or SL for short) is the original version of game, which is based on the Microsoft Silverlight browser plug-in. This version had existed in one form or another for the past 5 years.

What is atWar HTML5?
atWar HTML5 is the new version of the game that is completely plug-in independent and will work in any modern browser (including mobiles & tablets). It doesn't require any additional installs and works right away.

Why do we need to switch to atWar HTML5?
As per above, since the old version relies on a proprietary browser plug-in, it is not future-proof. Google Chrome, for example, have already dropped support for Silverlight this September and even the new Microsoft browser, Edge, doesn't support it. Inevitably, other browsers will follow suit. Another reason is that Silverlight doesn't work on mobile devices.

We have made a decision to speed up the transition process and make a switch to HTML5 version on the 7th of October, a week earlier than we originally planned.

Extremely important news, everyone!
We have made a decision to decommision the Silverlight client on the 7th of October this year. This was a hard decision, but a truly necessary one. The main reason is that it is just not feasible for us to maintain both servers and clients in the long term. So we decided to fully concentrate and commit ourselves to polish the HTML5 version as much as possible in the following month. It is already perfectly playable and everyone is invited to try it out. In fact, it is in your own interest, since after the 7th of October, you won't be able start new games in the Silverlight client anymore. So please, please let us know of any breaking bugs that might affect the game experience for you! From our side, we'll do our best to address all the feedback.

Starting from now, anyone playing the new HTML5 (Beta) version of the game will automatically get a 2x SP boost!

And once again, we urge you to post your feedback and bug reports in the HTML5 forums. It is utterly important that we get everything right!

Today is the day! Finally, the HTML5 version is officially out of alpha and into the beta phase!

So what does this mean? Most importantly, you can now play the HTML5 version and keep all your hard-earned SP, Elo, medals, CWs, all of that good stuff. Beta is connected to the same database as the main server, so all the stats are now shared. Chat is also fully synchronized between the two versions, so you can see all the messages from another server. You can even play both versions at the same time if you're into that kind of thing.

Those of you who are on Chrome probably already know that since the latest update, Silverlight (the plugin used by atWar) is no longer supported. Need not despair, however, since you still have an option to download the game and play it from your desktop (Windows). Alternatively, there is always the Beta version. And by the way, Silverlight is still supported by the majority of other browsers.

Please hold on, we've already sorted most of the issues. It always happens after the server move, takes some time to get everything right. Nothing to worry about!

Hi everyone,

Due to the planned server move on Monday, both website and game will be unavailable from 19:00 until around 22:00. It might take a bit longer, but we're hoping it will actually take less than 3 hours. On a positive side, the new server will be around twice as fast as the current one. We apologize for the inconvenience caused!

EDIT2: Map & scenario editing is now temporarily disabled because of the move
EDIT3: atWar has successfully been relocated to its new home. Not all the maps are available as some are still being copied (should be completed by tomorrow afternoon)
EDIT4: All maps should now be available, editing has been re-enabled.

Also, alpha is now running on the most recent database snapshot, so it will have the latest stats and data from the main server.

It's been almost a month already since we've opened atWar HTML5 Alpha for public testing.
During that time, there's been a lot of improvements and bug fixes. Many thanks go to our ever helpful testers! (alpha trooper trophies await)

Here's a quick breakdown of what's been done:

• Total bugs reported: 207
  
• Fixed: 147

Many of you must have noticed that it feels quite lonely in the HTML5 world, due to a low number of players in it.
So, here's a few things that we hope would change that:

• Starting from today, the game chat is synchronized between both servers (Main and the HTML5 one). So you should be able to see messages from Main when in HTML5 and vice versa. These messages are prefixed with an arrow (→). You can also pr to players on another server.
  
• We're opening alpha to rank 4+!
  
• In the beginning of September, we'll transition into Beta and the HTML5 Beta server will be fully integrated with the main database, so all the SP/Elo/etc earned in it will be kept and reflected on the main website.
  
• From the release of HTML5 Beta, both servers will continue running alongside, using the same database, for as long as it's needed and until the HTML5 version is fully functional and is ready to completely replace the current Silverlight version.
